High school students must complete community service during their four years at Community Christian School in order to fulfill graduation requirements. Any service completed outside of Community Christian School or a ministry of Community Bible Church must be pre-approved. Students are encouraged to perform their service through their local church or other non-profit organizations. There are three levels of participation as outlined below:

White Service Level

  • An average of thirty hours per year each year of attendance.
  • This is the minimum level required for graduation.
  • CCS will offer school-sponsored service opportunities.

Blue Service Level

  • 180 hours
  • Graduates will be recognized with a blue cord to wear at graduation signifying their commitment.

Silver Service Level

  • 240 hours
  • Graduates who receive this award will be honored at graduation with a silver cord

Upcoming Opportunities

Interested in signing up for community service? (remember 30 hours per year needs to be completed)

We need five students per game to run chains. Volunteers have the opportunity to earn at least three hours, maybe more. Please come see the sign-up sheet for chain volunteering, the dates will be for our home football games, and the sign-up sheet is located outside of Mrs. Balsam’s office. You have the opportunity to volunteer this Friday at our first scrimmage.

What does the Chain crew do?

  • Be ready at game time: Head coaches will generally meet before the game, and a topic of conversation is commonly about the chain gang. Volunteers should be ready when the game starts. The coach shouldn’t have to come looking.
  • Pay attention to the officials: This is very important, especially if you’re new to being on the chain gang.
  • Stretch the chains tight: When a series begins, an official will come over and indicate where to place the first stick for the line of scrimmage. The person holding the second stick will then stretch out the chain tight and place the stick down on the field. It’s important to make sure there is an accurate marking.
  • No cheering on the sidelines : This is not the NFL. It’s youth football, and the chain gang consists of parents or family members. It’s obvious that you have a rooting interest, but it’s also important to remember that you are part of the game crew. A little clapping or cheering like, “Nice run!” is acceptable, but don’t throw the stick to the ground and jump up and down for a great play. The sticks are generally on the visiting side of the field, so if your team is home you might want to keep the cheering to a minimum.
  • Be prepared to move: For most of the game, you’ll be standing with a stick in hand on the sideline paying attention to the game. It’s important to pay attention to the game because there could very well be a run or pass coming in your direction. If you see a player with the ball heading toward the sideline or there is a pass toward the sideline, drop the sticks backward and move out of the way.

Community’s Trunk ‘N Treat- Saturday, October 27

  • Host a Trunk-  You’ll need to pick a theme, decorate your car, and then plan to pass out candy that night from your decorated car. Students who host a trunk, including decorating a car and providing candy for the trunk, will earn 20 community service hours.
  • Volunteer to help church staff. Those hours will be awarded per hour worked at the event, and you’ll need to sign in with Cindy Hall.
  • Donate Candy. Students in grades 9-12 may earn 1 community service hour for every 50 pieces of candy donated. Please give your candy donations to your homeroom teacher for verification.
