August Letter 2022

Dear CCS Parents and Families,

Happy first day of school, from Community Christian!

I am happy to report that we had a successful first full day of K-12 school. Beginning with a great arrival window, through the initial “shaking the dust off” opening class activities, and followed by a great lunch and beyond, our students, teachers, and staff excitedly got off to a great start! Along with the hard work and preparation from our team, I want to thank our families and students for your participation in our orientation and student open house events, as that ensured a great opening day. Above all, I’d like to give God the credit for blessing our work today and throughout the year.

This first month of the school year is always a critical one, and I’d like to encourage each of you as parents and family members to get to know your child’s new routines, spiritual aspirations, and academic goals for the year. Talk with him or her about the day, and ask questions about what they are learning in class. Pray with them and for them, as well as for their teachers and our staff. Encourage them to fully embrace the academic, spiritual, and developmental opportunities we have at CCS. The more engaged and intentional your child is, the more successful he or she will be! Know also that your child’s teachers are ready and anxious to partner with you in your child’s growth and development here at Community Christian.

Also regarding this first month, I wanted to take the opportunity to draw your attention to a few events and informational items…

  • Elementary MAP Testing will take place between 8/17-8/26. Please emphasize with your child how important this assessment is, as the data we get from it will guide our teachers in how to work with their students this year.
  • Volleyball serves up with back to back home matches on 8/22 and 8/23
  • Our football teams kick off later that week with home games on 8/25 and 8/26
  • We will have 3 “Coffee and Conversation” events in August. My hope is that this will be an opportunity to get to know you better, and for us to have a chance to connect about all things CCS. More information will come out, but the dates and times are as follows:
    • Early Education Parents: 8/23 @ 8:00-9:30 AM
    • Elementary Parents: 8/25@ 8:00-9:30 AM
    • Middle School/High School Parents: 8/26 @ 8:00-9:30 AM
      • Parents with children at multiple levels are welcome to attend multiple events or select the event most appropriate for them.
  • Our Early Education program will be hosting its annual book fair on 8/23-26, with the goal of adding to our teacher library of books for our youngest learners!
  • August will end with the excitement and enthusiasm of our annual BOOSTERTHON! This year, proceeds from this event will go toward enhancing our playground facilities.

As I mentioned above, August is certainly a busy and eventful month! We look forward to starting our journey together with you and your children. In the meantime, please know that our CCS administrators and staff are only a phone call or email away. And, in closing, if you are looking for a church please consider Community Bible Church – we’d love to continue to partner with you on Sundays!

Sincerely,

Matt
