Reader of the Year

On Thursday, March 2, 2017, a large group of CCS students were awarded for their Reader of the Year nomination, a high honor given by the Henry Heritage Reading Counsel. Among them were freshman MacKenna Gosart and sophomore Hannah Asire who won a Henry Heritage award for her grade level. Taylor Evans, a sophomore who was also nominated, said “This was so exciting! I loved being a part of this!”

In addition to the awards Mackenna and Hannah received, CCS also had three other winners for their grade levels, and Leonardo Yue won the Henry Heritage Lindy Lopez-Butner Award. He will continue in the competition at the state level. The awards weren’t the only things exciting the students. Sidney Thomas, an accomplished reader, revealed, “The awards were cool, but I really enjoyed just doing what I love!” This was true for everyone who attended the Reader of the Year Awards, and, as a plus, they got to share what they love with others. The Reader of the Year Awards were a huge success, and students can't wait for next year’s competition.
