The Oration Project
Beginning in April, the sophomore English classes launched the biggest end-of-the-year assignment: The Oration Project. The project allows students to pick a topic of their choice and speak on it for six to seven minutes. Assignments such as a rough draft outline, final outline, rough drafts, and final drafts of the speech were submitted in increments leading up to the final turn-in day on Wednesday, May 11th.
Speeches began today, Monday, May 16th. Students could be seen studying their speeches in the hallways and at lunch. Many students were nervous, but most were ready to finish the final project. If a certain score is reached at the end of the project, students can exempt the final 10th grade English exam. The speeches will take place Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
