Greg Dickens

Athletic Director

Coach Dickens comes to Community Christian School following 28 years of volunteer service to Metro Atlanta area youth through athletic programs. He brings a commitment to excellence as an experienced coach and administrator of athletic programs who views sports as a vehicle for Christian character development. He is the founding president of the United Youth Football Conference of Georgia and the Metro Area Christian Athletic Conference. He spent many years working with at risk teens, introducing them to athletics instead of gangs. In 1995, Coach Dickens, a career law enforcement officer, received the Youth Leadership Award from the Georgia Youth Council. In 2010, Coach Dickens was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with young adults by the United Basketball Association, a program that prepares potential players for the NBA.

“Athletics is the avenue through which many young people develop themselves to their fullest potential,” Dickens said. “My passion has always been to see personal growth and development of lifetime skills in players through the athletic experience”.

“Athletics are often the window through which the public sees the school, so it is imperative that participants be positive representatives and role models. Both academic and behavior standards are important in developing and maintaining a quality athletic program. As with every part of the institution, the athletic program must add positively to the whole of CCS.” Dickens added.

Coach Dickens is a 1980 graduate of Forest Park High School and a 1983 graduate of the Georgia Peace Officer Training Council. He attended Atlanta Area Tech, Clayton Junior College and is currently an undergraduate student at Columbus State University. He has been married for over 25 years to Sarah (Wilson) Dickens, a Jonesboro native. The couple have two children, Katie (Dickens) Guettler, a 2008 graduate of North Georgia CSU, and RN at Atlanta Medical Center. Diana (Dickens) Moore, the younger of the two daughters, is a student at Clayton State University studying Business.
